Christmas/New Year events in London

Posted at 11:35 am by in Events

As it’s the last weekend before Christmas, here’s a bumper list of what’s happening not just this weekend, but for the next couple of weeks.

If you’re not you’re not out and about this Saturday, catch the Strictly Come Dancing Final, where Chris Hollins will reprise his Charleston, and both Ricky Whittle and Chris compete in the first ever competitive Lindy hop. We wish both of them the best of luck in their respective swing dances.

With Christmas next weekend, this will be our last set of updates until the New Year, when we’ll start it all over again for a new decade! So keep on swingin’!

Every Friday, we post on Twitter swing dance events happening over the weekend. Usually we also post this information up on our Facebook page, but for some reason, today, it’s not working. So here’s an update for everyone!

It’s ♫♪ A Foggy Day (in London Town) ♫♪ as Fred Astaire sang in 72 years ago. And we still get them. So warm up this weekend with these:

Keep warm!

We’re loved in Sweden too!

A fun little video. They love us in Sweden.

By the way, we aren’t Swedish so we don’t pay their broadcasting fees (only our own TV Licence in the UK to fund the BBC’s lavish Strictly Come Dancing programme). But we encourage all Swedes to pay, and to go to the Snowball and Herrang next year!

BBC and Lambent Production shoot

Posted at 4:14 pm by in Events

As some of you may have seen on our Facebook wall, the BBC and Lambent Productions are filming a series of clips for BBC Learning this weekend. Featuring the Jiving Lindy Hoppers, they are re-creating a 40s wartime dance and are looking for people dancing the lindy hop in 40s clothing. There will be a live band and we will provide lunch, tea, cake and refreshments and it should be a lot of fun.

It’s bound to be fun, so for more details see here. Please note, you must contact the organisers before you attend.

Otherwise, it’s a usual, packed weekend of dancing. See our twitter feed for the latest listings.
