Site update: April 2011

As some of you will have noticed, the updates to the site and the Twitter feed haven’t been as up and coming in the last few weeks. I’d like to offer my sincerest apologies for the reduced coverage, but unfortunately, my baby son was seriously ill in hospital and has been recuperating over the last few months.

At this stage, I’m not yet ready and available to go back to the regular weekend event updates on the site, but I will continue to try to tweet events coming up on an occasional basis. If you’re an organiser, send us a tweet @swingdancersldn and we’ll try to retweet. Tweets will continue to appear on our homepage, so please keep checking those out.

In the meantime, just to say that the recent sun has definitely provided a taster of things to come this summer, and we’ll be looking out for dancing events and organising our own! So watch this space, as they say!

Updated Directory

It’s been a while since we updated our directory on this site, so we’ve done a trawl and purge, and attempted to reformat it into a more user friendly format. Which wasn’t as easy as it should have been.

Anyway, if you want to have a look at our brand spaking new directory, see here

It’s bound to be the case that some of you will notice a mistake, or that you want us to add you on. If so, let us know by filling out our contact form.

Meanwhile, we’re off to reward ourselves with a cuppa whilst listening to some slow swing/blues.

We’re tweeting. And if you don’t know what that means, it simply means we’re posting what we’re doing on Twitter.

You’ll see our feed on the right of this website, but if you subscribe to our feed either through Twitter (or an RSS reader, if you’re geeky enough), you’ll be able to get updates on what we’re up to (when we get time to update it).

And aside from our emails and website, we’ll no doubt be posting some special tidbits that are reserved for our members. So check it out!

We’ve had some problems with our contact form and wall recently, but we think we’ve fixed it. Phew!

We’ve created a new Wall (see in the sidebar on the right). It’s like the one we have on Facebook (well, kinda).

Welcome to the new website of Swing Dancers of London.

Set up originally on Facebook, we’re a keen group of swing dancers looking for places to express ourselves and dance. We organise our own events (mostly free) as well as joining in with others’. And London being London, there’s lots of dancing to be done.

We’re now extending into the big World Wide Web to bring you the latest news and events where London’s swing dancers are dancing.

Our Facebook group will remain the core place to find out about our events as well as being a lot more fun in terms of meeting new dancers and seeing what we’re all up to. But if you don’t have access to Facebook for whatever reason, you can keep up to date with our events, or join our mailing list.

Some additional feature are still to come, so keep an eye out, but for now, explore our site!
