"Travel back in time to the Swing era in this special evening of dance music. For over thirty years the Pasadena Roof Orchestra has delighted audiences around the world with its mix of swing and hot dance music. Adding to the mood are dancers, The Jiving Lindy Hoppers who perform The Lindy Hop in its original 1920's form. Originally created in Harlem, New York City, the Lindy Hop has remained one of the most athletic and entertaining dance inventions of the 20th century and is exhilarating to watch."


This event is organised by Canary Wharf. Details subject to change.

Just enter Regent's Park where Hanover Gate meets the Outer Circle.Then take the the first path on your right.This will take you past the Children's Boating Pond on your left.We'll be in our picnic oasis under the coverage of two interlocking trees, in front of the Boathouse Cafe.

Next To Regent's Park Boathouse

The series of summer picnics continues next month at Regent's Park with fresh new music!

If the weather has a tantrum I may have a possible alternative venue, so keep alert
for the latest info.

We offer:

1. The thrilling suspense of unknown weather!

2. 4pm a FREE balboa class from Judy Cook and Simon Greenard.
Try and bring shoes that slide a bit!

3. Entertainment from the inimitable Mr John Barnes.

4. A beautiful part of Regent's Park with all essential facilities nearby (after many hours research).

5. Dancing in the dappled sunshine of shading trees.

6. Continuous swing music from the swing-beat boom-box of Neil Delany.



You bring:

1. Yourself, friends & family.

2. A favourite swing track or two to play.

3. Food & drink, maybe even some to share!

4. A fierce determination to have a fun, relaxed attitude.

5. A blanket, suntan lotion, sunglasses, umbrella, wellies and a hoodie!

6. Most important of all, besides your good selves: an azure sky, moderate humidity and a gentle cooling breeze (we live in hope).


Time: 3pm-7pm+

Cost: Absolutely Free (Optional donation of £1 to cover cost of batteries. Once reached, further contributions will be refused)

Venue:

The triangular island of green next to the Children's Boating Pond and in front of the Boathouse Café, Regent's Park.

Nearest tubes: Baker Street and Marylebone.
Nearest mainline overground station: Marylebone.

Kai's Cats have wowed the London circuit, with regular gigs at Ronnie Scott's amongst others.

Come along and dance in front of the commuters at Liverpool Street Station and show them what swing dance is all about!

Led by the lovely American songstress Kai Hoffman, swingin' retro band Kai's Cats has a fabulous lineup including some of London's hottest jazz players. With numbers like Louis Jordan’s ‘There Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens’ this band is guaranteed to get toes tappin’. Kai’s Cats play a mix of jumpin’ jive, swing and early rock and roll and have been performing their flights of feline fancy in their current line-up for just a year. They have established a strong London jazz diary, from Jitterbugs’ Lindy Hop Night at Marble Arch to Ronnie Scott’s Upstairs Bar.
