October looks to be a fun month. We at SDL may have packed our picnic hampers and bamboo mats away, but it looks as though the swing dance community in London is swingin’ as ever!
 
It seems that The Blues Are Back In Town, and indeed they are as Blues Revolution and Viva Viva are hosting a day of workshops and social dancing up in North London. As the nights draw in, the Autumn Blues can’t get to you. Lessons are taught by David and Lucy and the best thing is it’s all free. It all takes place on Sunday 12 October and details are below.
 
Also posted on our Facebook group wall is a new event in Camden to take place monthly on a Sunday. Jo Pickering posted up The Low Down which features a swing dance class at 2 and followed by social dancing until 5, it takes place at Expression Studios, starting on Sunday 19 October. And it’s only £2 a time. Further details below.
 
Finally, as ever, John Vassallo presents his monthly Legendary Jive Joint in Kingston-upon-Thames, a free tea dance that everyone can enjoy. The next one is on Sunday 26 October. For more details see: http://rosetheatrekingston.org/culture-cafe.
 
Plus look out for the Cambridge Lindy Exchange (http://cambridgelindyexchange.co.uk/) on 17-19 October, if you can get out of town, and the London Balboa Festival (http://www.londonbalboafestival.co.uk/) on 24-26 October.
 
With these, it looks like October isn’t just going to be a month of Sundays.
