Swing Dance Picnic to celebrate Lester Mak's birthday

The series of summer picnics at Regent's Park sadly ends.

If the weather has a tantrum I hope to have an alternative venue in central London for us to dance in. However, I won't have final details until Tuesday, 2nd September, at the earliest. So please keep checking here for more info. Also, there may be a small charge of £2 to £3, but nothing is set in stone. It could be less. That's the cost of a drink in a bar, without any dancing. We should be able to bring our own food and drink from the abandoned picnic.

Please let me know your thoughts on this contingency plan

We offer:

1. The thrilling suspense of unknown weather!

2. A free dance class from the terrific Taina Kortelainen.

3. Entertainment from the inimitable Mr John Barnes.

4. A beautiful part of Regent's Park with all essential facilities nearby (after many hours research).

5. Dancing in the dappled sunshine of shading trees.

6. Continuous summer swing music from the marriage of Lester's amp and iPod.

7. Croquet for the amateur sporting sophisticates.
(Really this time!).

8. Finally, but not least: the opportunity to dance Lester beautifully ragged in his birthday dance!

You bring:

1. Yourself, friends & family.

2. A favourite swing track or two to play.

3. Food & drink, maybe even some to share!

4. A fierce determination to have a fun, relaxed attitude.

5. A blanket, suntan lotion, sunglasses, umbrella, wellies and a hoodie!

6. Most important of all, besides your good selves: an azure sky, moderate humidity and a gentle cooling breeze (we live in hope).

Time: 3pm-7pm+ (last time it was between 8.30 & 9pm!)

Time of class: 4pm

Venue:

The triangular island of green next to the Children's Boating Pond and in front of the Boathouse Café, Regent's Park.

Nearest tubes: Baker Street and Marylebone.
Nearest mainline overground station: Marylebone.

Directions:

Just enter Regent's Park where Hanover Gate meets the Outer Circle. Then take the first path on your right. This will take you past the Children's Boating Pond on your left. We'll be in our picnic oasis under the coverage of two interlocking trees, in front of the Boathouse Cafe.
